Meet Dr Charlotte Berry
(She/Her)
Dr Charlotte is a qualified and experienced Clinical Psychologist offering Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) in Manchester and online across the UK. With over a decade of experience working in the NHS, she brings warmth, authenticity, and deep compassion to her therapeutic work. Born and raised in Manchester, she's a proud Mancunian known for creating a safe space that feels genuinely supportive, grounded, and real.
Her journey into psychology began nearly two decades ago, sparked by a deep curiosity about people and the ways we connect, cope, and grow. Since then, she has dedicated her career to understanding human experience in all its complexity, working in community mental health teams supporting people with complex and enduring mental health needs as well as acting as clinical lead in secondary care therapy services.

Over the years, Dr. Charlotte has also worked closely with teams and systems, providing supervision, consultation, and reflective practice to NHS staff. She is passionate about supporting those who care for others, helping professionals sustain their wellbeing and compassion in the often challenging environments they work in.
Much of her NHS career has been spent in socioeconomically deprived areas of Manchester, working alongside disadvantaged communities. These experiences, together with her working-class background, have shaped her deep understanding of how power, privilege, and inequality influence mental health and access to support. Passionate about inequality, feminism, and human rights, Dr. Charlotte is passionate about social justice and believes that therapy is both a personal and political act; a space where people can reclaim their voice, challenge systems of oppression, and nurture change from the inside out.
Dr. Charlotte brings a deeply authentic and compassionate approach to her therapeutic work, shaped by her own lived experience. She has personally navigated many of life’s challenges - from grief and loss to discrimination - and understands the complexities that arise at various life transitions, including adolescence, moving away from home, navigating relationships, and the challenges of parenting. Living with long-term physical health conditions has also given Dr Charlotte a deep appreciation for balance, self-care and proactive wellbeing. Like many, she has faced periods of mental health struggle, giving her a profound appreciation for the courage it takes to seek support. Her own journey through psychological therapy has been central to her growth helping her explore identity, deepen self-understanding, and cultivate the grounded presence she brings to her clinical work. She describes therapy as both transformative and containing, offering a vital scaffolding for healing and growth.
Dr. Charlotte specialises in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), a relational approach that explores patterns in how we relate to others, ourselves, and wider systems. She also integrates Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and combines creative tools from both therapeutic approaches such as chair work, mapping, art, and letter writing; encouraging clients to explore, express, and experiment in ways that feel authentic and safe.
Whether you're seeking CAT therapy in Manchester or prefer the flexibility of online sessions, Dr Charlotte offers accessible, trauma-informed psychological support across the United Kingdom. Online therapy provides a safe, confidential space where you can engage in deep, meaningful work from wherever feels most comfortable.
Down-to-earth, empathic, and often with a sense of humour, Dr. Charlotte sees therapy as a collaborative process; an opportunity to sit alongside someone and work together to make sense of what’s happening, and to find new, kinder ways of being. She works hard to create a space that feels safe and containing, where exploration can happen at a pace that feels right. She brings pens, paper, and curiosity to every session; ready to meet her clients as they are, with openness, respect, and authenticity.
