How It Works...

1. Get in Touch

Email or telephone us to connect. We are excited to hear from you. You will be offered a free 30 minute telephone consultation.

2. Talk To Us

The telephone consultation is an opportunity for you to tell us about your situation and for us to gain a shared understanding of your difficulties and what you would like to get from therapy. We'll also talk you through the therapy process so you feel completely comfortable before your first session.

3. Your First Session

Meet us in-person or online to begin. You will be given the tools and resources to help you find your roots.

4. Plant A Tree

For every new client, Taproot will fund the planting of a tree. We have partnered with Tree-Nation, a non-profit organisation to help plant trees around the world. When you become a Taproot client you will be sent an email will the details of your tree.


At Taproot Psychology, we offer both individual therapy for trauma as well as bespoke trauma therapy intensives. Both programs are tailored to the needs of the individual, as neither are one-size-fits-all. We also provide supervision, consultation, and training to other mental health professionals.

Taproot Psychology offers EMDR trauma therapy. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) can be done in person or online using a remote EMDR platform. Most EMDR sessions are 60-minutes long, however, 90-minute sessions are also available depending on your needs.

Our highly-trained, qualified therapists incorporate EMDR trauma therapy with Compassion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and Cognitive Analytical Therapy. All of our therapists are trauma-informed.

Both individual sessions and intensives can be done online or in person. You'll meet with your therapist in whatever setting makes the most sense for both of you. Some of our therapists only meet with clients online, so make sure that your therapist offers the type of therapy for trauma that you require.

We are proud to offer trauma informed therapy both in person and online. When you are our client you will be offered access to a number of online resources. You will also be able to pay balances and access your statements using our online system.

Easy and Unintimidating

Taking the first step to start therapy can be scary- and that is why we try to make all appointments as comfortable as possible. You will have the opportunity to learn about your therapist before your appointment and we encourage you to ask questions about anything you feel unsure about throughout your therapy process. We believe that therapy works best if we are able to build collaborative relationships with the people we support.

We don't JUST work with Trauma

Although we specialise in working with trauma we recognise that your response to adverse life experiences may be linked to a number of difficulties including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and low self-esteem. We believe that healing happens best when you're treated as whole person - that's why out therapist take a holistic approach that treats you and all of your overlapping symptoms.
