Dr Rohan Morris
Chartered Clinical Psychologist | Trauma-Informed Psychologist
About Dr Rohan Morris
Dr Rohan first became interested in psychology after experiencing his own mental health difficulties as a teenager. He had been on track to become a professional sportsperson, but after a series of injuries, multiple operations, and months of not being able to walk unaided, he was told that he would never be able to run again. It was around the same time that his parents' relationship broke down, his mum moved away, and they had limited contact. Life as he knew it had changed. Like many other males, Dr Rohan had internalised the message that he needed to be tough, that he shouldn't show any weakness, and he shouldn't talk about his problems. After finding the courage to seek help from his GP, he was met with a stern "what do you want me to do about it?". Dr Rohan took the prescribed medication and kept his feelings to himself. It was years until he spoke openly to another health professional.
Dr Rohan learnt first-hand the importance of meeting people with validation, compassion, warmth, and empathy. He wanted to make a difference to the way people were treated so embarked on the path of studying psychology almost 20 years ago. After completing his degree and his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in psychology, he began a career in psychological research. After a couple of years working in a university, he realised that he didn't want to spend all his time locked away in an office looking at numbers. Dr Rohan wanted to spend his time working with and connecting with real people. He then undertook his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and began working as a clinician in the NHS.
Dr Rohan has been the lead psychologist supporting four different NHS teams. Most recently Dr Rohan has worked as the clinical lead for a, first of its type in the country, trauma informed care specialist residential service.
Dr Rohan has had the privilege of many people sharing their stories with him and has worked alongside many different people with diverse experiences. Dr Rohan believes in genuine human connection as a means of supporting healing and growth. He also believes that we should approach people, and ourselves, with compassion.
When you work with Dr Rohan, you won't be offered a manualised one size fits all approach to therapy . He will meet you as person and create a healing plan that is personalised to you.
